If Jim Lammens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Boudewijn Ijsselhof during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to groningen getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Boudewijn Ijsselhof hit a great ball. After having played for 20 minutes, Teo van Dijk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. groningen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teo van Dijk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Teo van Dijk recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in S.C. SaMBaS's zone, Boudewijn Ijsselhof stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ferdi Zuiverloon came out of the goal and Boudewijn Ijsselhof tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hans-Cees Klap showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jim Lammens, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 31 minutes into the match, groningen's goal looked a bit too open when Jim Lammens came free, but Hans-Cees Klap reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilfred Hassel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ferdi Zuiverloon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teo van Dijk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdi Zuiverloon having to interfere. Ferdi Zuiverloon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boudewijn Ijsselhof, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Teo van Dijk made a kick off. If Teo van Dijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Boudewijn Ijsselhof came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the groningen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boudewijn Ijsselhof couldn't finish the play. If Teo van Dijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferdi Zuiverloon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for groningen. In the 87th minute, Teo van Dijk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hans-Cees Klap showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Weken, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The S.C. SaMBaS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. groningen were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
