Luke Darmanin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kyle Alamango received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Clayton Fava tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Marsa whitestars's Clayton Fava got control of the ball when Stephen Cassar Overend tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Luqa SA booed when Marsa whitestars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tim Coleiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute, Stephen Cassar Overend got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Stephen Cassar Overend took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Clayton Fava to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When Luqa SA's John Galdes in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Kyle Alamango had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Clayton Fava took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kyle Alamango, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Bonello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Mumford in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stephen Cassar Overend in the 87th minute of play forced Marsa whitestars's goalkeeper Clayton Fava to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Kyle Alamango had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Bonello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierre Mumford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 94th minute by Luke Darmanin got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Lawrence Seracino Inglott charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lawrence Seracino Inglott the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luqa SA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
