The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tod Clemence received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Harvey Morcom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the game, Daryl Glasby was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. s.l.benfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Waltham FC the free kick. Stefan Hilton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tod Clemence fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Morcom having to interfere. 34 minutes into the game, Tod Clemence was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. s.l.benfica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Waltham FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, s.l.benfica's Tod Clemence got a free kick in the 34th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Gabriel Aleixo managed to get in a good position for a shot. s.l.benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabriel Aleixo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harvey Morcom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. s.l.benfica's Tod Clemence got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Augusto Fontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harvey Morcom. Waltham FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Augusto Fontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tod Clemence to strike the kick off in the second half. Garry Attenborough hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Harvey Morcom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Fontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Tod Clemence sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Waltham FC's Harvey Morcom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tod Clemence in the 66th minute of play. Stefan Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garry Attenborough in the 73rd minute of the match. The supporters of Waltham FC booed when s.l.benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brett Deacon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harvey Morcom stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tod Clemence's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. s.l.benfica's Tod Clemence got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Max Monkman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony Tompkins took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Harvey Morcom. Waltham FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
