One of Lions:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Basilicagoiano AFC:s goal. Anthony Cannone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Lions's Daniele Romano got a free kick in the 11th minute. Lions's Fulvio Piacentini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anthony Cannone in the 16th minute of play. In the 17th minute Flavio Oberrauch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fulvio Piacentini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Damiano Taglieri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Basilicagoiano AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lions the free kick. Damiano Taglieri kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Dino Improta could shoot a difficult shot in the 22nd minute, which Aldo Di Monte however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Basilicagoiano AFC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Fabio Castellani hit a great ball. The supporters of Lions booed when Basilicagoiano AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesare Di Michele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lions's Dave Palmucci couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Basilicagoiano AFC. Aldo Di Monte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dario Contestabile in the 28th minute of play. If Flavio Oberrauch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Cesare Di Michele came free, but Fulvio Piacentini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Flavio Oberrauch's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fulvio Piacentini was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. After having played for 46 minutes, Anthony Cannone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Basilicagoiano AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anthony Cannone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basilicagoiano AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavio Oberrauch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Flavio Oberrauch had several of the Lions's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 56 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Fulvio Piacentini as he didn't even see the shot coming. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Oberrauch in the 66th minute of play forced Lions's goalkeeper Fulvio Piacentini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dino Improta might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aldo Di Monte. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dino Improta ran back to his position shaking his head. If Flavio Oberrauch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Anthony Cannone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Flavio Oberrauch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fulvio Piacentini having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Lions's Dino Improta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aldo Di Monte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dino Improta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cesare Di Michele hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Lions were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after Basilicagoiano AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dave Palmucci took the corner. The corner led Lions's Dave Palmucci to fire away a dangerous shot which Aldo Di Monte despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Basilicagoiano AFC played a much better game than Lions and deserved their victory. The Lions players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
