Stella San Giovanni FC's Ettore Santacroce got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Elia Di Palma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ettore Santacroce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carmine Cesare read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Manfredi in the 16th minute of play forced Stella San Giovanni FC's goalkeeper Edmondo Tieri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ettore Santacroce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Carmine Cesare tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Fontanelle AFC's Alfredo Manfredi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmondo Tieri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fabiano Manfredi hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Alessandro Monaco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Carmine Cesare tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alessandro Monaco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carmine Cesare having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfredo Manfredi to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Biagio De Zorzi sped through Stella San Giovanni FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edmondo Tieri. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Manfredi in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmondo Tieri saved Stella San Giovanni FC from getting behind. Fontanelle AFC's Carmine Cesare played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Monaco in the 66th minute of play. With a little luck, Stella San Giovanni FC's Edmondo Tieri got control of the ball when Biagio De Zorzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Ettore Santacroce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stella San Giovanni FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ettore Santacroce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carmine Cesare breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elia Di Palma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Edmondo Tieri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute Alessandro Monaco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carmine Cesare saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Alessandro Monaco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Alberigo Ascani fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stella San Giovanni FC's protests and gave Alberigo Ascani a yellow card for diving instead. Stella San Giovanni FC:s Edmondo Tieri showed great skill when he stopped Anthony Tenaglia:s penalty. 91 minutes into the match, Anthony Tenaglia notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Stella San Giovanni FC's Edmondo Tieri. Edmondo Tieri was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Carmine Cesare showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ettore Santacroce, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Fontanelle AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
