With an all-out effort, Balmazújváros VTK's Zsolt Fábián threw himself towards the right post 4 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ferenc Újváry, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 8 minutes of play, Újfehértó SK's Csaba Segesváry made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tihamér Asztalos was left in no man's land by his defense there! 13 minutes into the game, Valentin Kutasi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Újfehértó SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balmazújváros VTK the free kick. After a rather tough play, Újfehértó SK's Valentin Kutasi got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 17th minute, Ferenc Újváry left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balmazújváros VTK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. A collision led to Újfehértó SK getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Ákos Veres hit a great ball. A hard shot by Lajos Markó from long distance, 25 minutes into the match, got Zsolt Fábián's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Újfehértó SK's Zsolt Fábián proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Újfehértó SK from getting a goal against them. Újfehértó SK's Zsolt Fábián played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Péter Kőváry in the 28th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Mózes Bíró shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tihamér Asztalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zénó Pucheli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zsolt Fábián took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ferenc Újváry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ferenc Újváry to strike the kick off in the second half. Valentin Kutasi kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Zsolt Fábián made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norbert Madaras in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Csaba Segesváry in the 67th minute of play forced Balmazújváros VTK's goalkeeper Tihamér Asztalos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Újfehértó SK were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Balmazújváros VTK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ákos Veres took the corner. If Csaba Segesváry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norbert Madaras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Zsolt Fábián tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valentin Kutasi kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 85 minutes into the game, Kornél Pulai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Balmazújváros VTK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Újfehértó SK the free kick. After 86 played minutes Balmazújváros VTK got a freekick which was hit by Kornél Pulai. Zsolt Fábián made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norbert Madaras in the 93rd minute of play. The supporters of Újfehértó SK booed when Balmazújváros VTK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bertalan Kaszás didn't get a good kick on the ball. Balmazújváros VTK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
