After a rather tough play, Vértesboglár's Péter Temesvári got a free kick in the 17th minute. The audience was convinced that István Rácz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but György Dávid was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Diósgyőri FC's Ákos Kalmár played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gergely Grosics in the 28th minute of play. Péter Tunyogi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ákos Kalmár. Diósgyőri FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Gergely Grosics had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Péter Baráth in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ákos Kalmár saved Diósgyőri FC from getting behind. Péter Szegedi charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Péter Szegedi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Gergely Grosics had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
