A collision led to Kostrena getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Predrag Penava hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the game, Zlatan Magić was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Punat's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kostrena the free kick. Zlatan Magić hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ljubo Hodak stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aleksandar Didulica was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Kostrena's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Veljko Končar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Punat's Zlatan Magić got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Zlatan Magić off the ground. If Aleksandar Didulica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Kostrena booed when Punat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ljubo Hodak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zoltan Peruško made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aleksandar Didulica in the 80th minute of play. Zvonimir Peharda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Branimir Jelinić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aleksandar Didulica received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Zoltan Peruško came out and tried to block the shot, but Aleksandar Didulica slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 87th minute. If Veselin Zglavnik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Aleksandar Didulica came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Kostrena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aleksandar Didulica couldn't finish the play.
