Nino Nemčić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Maksim Hajni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Žarko Švagel in the 7th minute of play forced Novi Vinodolski Vitez's goalkeeper Maksim Hajni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maksim Hajni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Žarko Švagel's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. If Nino Nemčić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Marijan Rizvanović fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novi Vinodolski Vitez's protests and gave Marijan Rizvanović a yellow card for diving instead. Marijan Rizvanović kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Alen Bosanac's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tvrtko Vidaković read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Alen Bosanac recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Žarko Švagel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maksim Hajni didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Žarko Švagel went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Maksim Hajni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Žarko Švagel in the 46th minute of play. Nino Nemčić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nino Nemčić to make the kick off. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Novi Vinodolski Vitez's goalkeeper Maksim Hajni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ostoja Peroković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Tvrtko Vidaković tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 71 minutes of play, Novi Vinodolski Vitez's Ostoja Peroković made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tvrtko Vidaković was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Dražen Ćosić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nino Nemčić's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maksim Hajni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Nino Nemčić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Maksim Hajni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nino Nemčić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Žarko Švagel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maksim Hajni having to interfere. The supporters of Novi Vinodolski Vitez booed when Virovitica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nino Nemčić didn't get a good kick on the ball.
