Ronald Ferrier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Arnold Martens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ronald Ferrier. Besançon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arnold Martens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The audience was convinced that Éric Cabot's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erwann Lebrun was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Erwann Lebrun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Éric Cabot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronald Ferrier stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernest Teboul's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. The audience was convinced that Arnold Martens's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronald Ferrier was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 20th minute, Augustin Vauquelin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hippolyte Burgun kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Besançon's Christophe Chirat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erwann Lebrun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Evan Boulot hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Éric Cabot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Erwann Lebrun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnold Martens scored 0-3 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronald Ferrier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Crangeat were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Arnold Martens made the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute Christophe Chirat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erwann Lebrun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cheikh Agier hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, Besançon's goal looked a bit too open when Arnold Martens came free, but Ronald Ferrier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the game, Cheikh Agier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Crangeat's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Besançon the free kick. In the 83rd minute, Christophe Chirat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Besançon booed when Crangeat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evan Boulot didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Besançon's Arnaud Dumay tried to score from far away in the 88th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute Éric Cabot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erwann Lebrun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grégoire Millon's late challenge caught a Besançon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Grégoire Millon helped the player get up and apologised. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Crangeat walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
