After 16 minutes, Román Griful mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the República Zaragoza and the Galiza ceive players grew even worse after the yellow card. Frutos Contreras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belo Morado having to interfere. Belo Morado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frutos Contreras in the 21st minute of play. Luis Teruel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Belo Morado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. República Zaragoza's Belo Morado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save República Zaragoza from getting a goal against them. Galiza ceive's Frutos Contreras got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Frutos Contreras recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Belo Morado. Frutos Contreras showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Silverio Rubio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Igor Canyelles in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Galiza ceive's Frutos Contreras sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Belo Morado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Igor Canyelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Igor Canyelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. República Zaragoza's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.
