The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dani Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Galo Ladra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Imanol Babia hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Galo Ladra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dani Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Asier Velasco hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When Dani Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Real Fontao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dani Marquez couldn't finish the play. Justo Cabrera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Toño Quintanilla went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Real Fontao's Justo Cabrera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlan Solera in the 19th minute of play. After some careless play in the Athletic Barcelona defense, Dani Marquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Galo Ladra. The Athletic Barcelona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Galo Ladra should have stopped the shot. Justo Cabrera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlan Solera, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dani Marquez in the 32nd minute of play forced Athletic Barcelona's goalkeeper Galo Ladra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gamus Naranjo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the match, Athletic Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Dani Marquez came free, but Galo Ladra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Athletic Barcelona's Guter Morcego got a free kick in the 38th minute. In the 41st minute of the match Real Fontao got a corner. Athletic Barcelona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leandro Comas ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Leandro Comas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Galo Ladra quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Real Fontao's Dani Marquez managed to work through Athletic Barcelona's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Dani Marquez dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 47 minutes into the match, Real Fontao's goalkeeper Justo Cabrera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toño Quintanilla.

The wind increased when Dani Marquez made the kick off in the second half. If Orlan Solera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Asier Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 62 minutes into the match, Athletic Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Dani Marquez came free, but Galo Ladra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dani Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Real Fontao fans jumped to their feet. With an all-out effort, Real Fontao's Galo Ladra threw himself towards the right post 65 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dani Marquez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Justo Cabrera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toño Quintanilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Real Fontao's Gamus Naranjo got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 72 minutes, Eriberto Castelao mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athletic Barcelona and the Real Fontao players grew even worse after the yellow card. Galo Ladra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dani Marquez in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Asier Velasco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gamus Naranjo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 83rdth minute, Galo Ladra skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Asier Velasco got his second yellow card in the match during the 84th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 85th minute, Asier Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dani Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galo Ladra having to interfere. Gamus Naranjo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Galo Ladra made a huge save. The Real Fontao players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
