Toño Quintanilla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 6th play minutes Orlan Solera shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Roger Figueroa and just under the crossbar into goal. Toño Quintanilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Roger Figueroa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute Orlan Solera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Figueroa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd match minute, El Puerto De Santa María FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis-Jose Borrás to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the match, Athletic Barcelona's Cordareo Arenas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Roger Figueroa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlan Solera, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 30th match minute, Athletic Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guter Morcego to maneuver through the defense. Neron Cabrera scored 1-2 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Galo Ladra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Orlan Solera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Figueroa having to interfere. After 35 played minutes El Puerto De Santa María FC got a freekick which was hit by Amor Vega. Manolo Casals sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manolo Casals did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-2 to the left of a surprised Galo Ladra 41 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Toño Quintanilla's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roger Figueroa was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. After having played for 47 minutes, Orlan Solera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Athletic Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlan Solera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orlan Solera was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toño Quintanilla got free with Roger Figueroa in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Athletic Barcelona's Cordareo Arenas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 76th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Roger Figueroa but with some difficulty. In the 78th minute, Orlan Solera reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Roger Figueroa. The goal made the score 2-3. Athletic Barcelona's Galo Ladra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neron Cabrera in the 82nd minute of play. Galo Ladra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neron Cabrera in the 85th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neron Cabrera in the 92nd minute of play forced Athletic Barcelona's goalkeeper Galo Ladra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Toño Quintanilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Roger Figueroa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Toño Quintanilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Athletic Barcelona players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
