Urbes Bajo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Yader Casals had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. Reno Helguera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvino Vagrande, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bonifacio Valdivia in the 48th minute of play forced La Coruña SAD's goalkeeper Reno Helguera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Illano players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for La Coruña SAD.
