Ekhi Ribas came out of the goal and Arbidel Higuera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elixio Duarte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Monte Obis made a huge save. In the 43rd minute, Diego Zubizarreta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute, Elixio Duarte fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Monte Obis, passed just outside the right post. Elixio Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Monte Obis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diego Zubizarreta made a kick off. If Elixio Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elixio Duarte couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Zubizarreta in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ekhi Ribas saved Rubiais San Ciprian CD from getting behind. If Tristan Losantos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
