Klaus Irrgang kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Gero Brendel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Korbinian Kenty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hendrix Schilling got free with Gero Brendel in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 13th minute, David Schöneweiß got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. David Schöneweiß recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ali Bischof received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Georges Böll tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ali Bischof sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tobias Rewer charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tobias Rewer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 25th minute of the match Energy United got a corner. Moese's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hans-Martin Gorgs ran over to the corner to take the kick. Energy United's Hans-Martin Gorgs was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gero Brendel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Bischof in the 27th minute of play forced Energy United's goalkeeper Georges Böll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If David Schöneweiß had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfred Schöll fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Georges Böll having to interfere. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Energy United's goalkeeper Georges Böll, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Georges Böll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Schöneweiß in the 45th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ali Bischof in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Georges Böll saved Energy United from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Energy United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tyler Wittkamp was slow to take the kick. During this time Moese's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Moese's corner Tyler Wittkamp fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Georges Böll quite easily take care of the ball. Georges Böll made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ali Bischof in the 61st minute. After having played for 67 minutes, Hendrix Schilling managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Energy United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hendrix Schilling was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 72 minutes, Ali Bischof managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The audience was convinced that David Schöneweiß's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Georges Böll was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Georges Böll made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Ali Bischof sent off a good shot on target. If Hendrix Schilling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Energy United's Korbinian Kenty in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Moese's goalie prevented a goal.
