In the 6th minute, Holger Biesel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute of the match Felix Rankweide shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Quentin Wieczorek showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Hochspeyer FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Mühlenhaupt came free, but Quentin Wieczorek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, FSV Mainz 05's Florian Mühlenhaupt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Quentin Wieczorek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nils Zsack in the 28th minute of play forced FSV Mainz 05's goalkeeper Felix Gröger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute of the match Holger Biesel shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Felix Gröger showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 30 played minutes FSV Mainz 05 got a freekick which was hit by Christian Grimmelshausen. In the 33rd minute Raphael Kennerknecht shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quentin Wieczorek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karol Linke kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Nils Zsack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th match minute, Hochspeyer FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andreas Auernhammer to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 48 minutes, Nils Zsack managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hochspeyer FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nils Zsack was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nils Zsack made a kick off. Quentin Wieczorek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florian Mühlenhaupt in the 53rd minute of play. Rio Gütermann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 played minutes Hochspeyer FSV got a freekick which was hit by Claude Rühle. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Florian Mühlenhaupt in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Quentin Wieczorek saved Hochspeyer FSV from getting behind. In the 68th match minute, FSV Mainz 05 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Günther Rhein to maneuver through the defense. 71 minutes into the match, Hochspeyer FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Mühlenhaupt came free, but Quentin Wieczorek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andreas Auernhammer kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. A collision led to FSV Mainz 05 getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Raphael Kennerknecht hit a great ball. If Rio Gütermann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claude Rühle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Felix Gröger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hochspeyer FSV were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FSV Mainz 05 to leave the ground with a draw.
