In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Schleipfen FC's goalkeeper Wolf-Rüdiger Feiert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 13thth minute of the game Sönke Toth who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Schleipfen FC's Wolf-Rüdiger Feiert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Toni Hoss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norbert Ebmonts, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 20 minutes into the game, Asmus Brahms was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hannover City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Schleipfen FC the free kick. In the 21st minute, Asmus Brahms hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Schleipfen FC's Jürgen Hein got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jürgen Hein recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 30 minutes into the game, Adrian Gnant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Wolf-Rüdiger Feiert was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute Adrian Gnant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wolf-Rüdiger Feiert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jürgen Hein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norbert Ebmonts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Toni Hoss tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jürgen Hein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Toni Hoss made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jürgen Hein in the 48th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Norbert Ebmonts was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Norbert Ebmonts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toni Hoss saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hannover City's Toni Hoss played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jürgen Hein in the 56th minute of play. Klemens Schuhmacher took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 58th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Toni Hoss. Hannover City's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Hannover City booed when Schleipfen FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tamino Jenssen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Jürgen Hein had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Toni Hoss. Hannover City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jürgen Hein was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Markus Howahl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Toni Hoss tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Schleipfen FC's Gabriel Faust got a free kick in the 69th minute. Schleipfen FC's Wolf-Rüdiger Feiert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Gnant in the 71st minute of play. If Norbert Ebmonts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toni Hoss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norbert Ebmonts in the 77th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Jürgen Hein put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Toni Hoss. In the 86thth minute of the game Norbert Ebmonts who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hannover City's Toni Hoss was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Norbert Ebmonts struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Toni Hoss didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Schleipfen FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norbert Ebmonts in the 96th minute of play forced Hannover City's goalkeeper Toni Hoss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Schleipfen FC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Hannover City to leave the ground with a draw.
