Jakob Richter made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Bo Söhner sent off a good shot on target. Ulf Kozub might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jakob Richter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ulf Kozub ran back to his position shaking his head. Bo Söhner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jakob Richter having to interfere. In the 19th minute Ulf Kozub shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jakob Richter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jakob Richter was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ulf Kozub showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. Jakob Richter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulf Kozub, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Bo Söhner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Jakob Richter made a huge save. 37 minutes into the match, FC Doermi's goal looked a bit too open when Ulf Kozub came free, but Jakob Richter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bo Söhner got free with Jakob Richter in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 41 minutes into the match, FC Union Mühlhausen's Bo Söhner sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jakob Richter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jakob Richter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bo Söhner, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Jakob Richter came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Union Mühlhausen's Bo Söhner. But to his dismay, Bo Söhner quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kilian Fellauer to make the kick off. Ronaldinho Rhein received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Elmar Bordorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ulf Kozub had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes FC Doermi got a freekick which was hit by Marc Prielhofer. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Doermi's goalkeeper Jakob Richter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FC Union Mühlhausen's zone, Kilian Fellauer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elmar Bordorf came out of the goal and Kilian Fellauer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nils Nördershäuser hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. FC Union Mühlhausen's Bo Söhner got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Michael Rodemann charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michael Rodemann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 93 minutes of play FC Doermi's Michael Rodemann was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. If Ulf Kozub had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Union Mühlhausen's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
