The long shot by Sascha Schikorra in the 5th minute really tested Artur Kopplin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Helmut Heeringa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, SV Darmstadt 98's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Wolters came free, but Artur Kopplin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, Darfeld FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Wolters to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Darfeld FSV's Jochen Kowalski got a free kick in the 28th minute. A collision led to Darfeld FSV getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Boris Thülig hit a great ball. Artur Kopplin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik Wolters in the 32nd minute of play. If Helmut Heeringa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 35 minutes, Helmut Heeringa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SV Darmstadt 98's supporters crossed their fingers, but Helmut Heeringa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Darfeld FSV's Julien-Nils Fleischer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helmut Heeringa in the 37th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, SV Darmstadt 98 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steffen Feuerstein to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of SV Darmstadt 98 booed when Darfeld FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. David-Pascal Emmel didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Steffen Feuerstein notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Darfeld FSV's Julien-Nils Fleischer. Julien-Nils Fleischer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erik Wolters made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helmut Heeringa in the 54th minute of play forced Darfeld FSV's goalkeeper Julien-Nils Fleischer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the game, Helmut Heeringa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julien-Nils Fleischer. Helmut Heeringa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Julien-Nils Fleischer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Helmut Heeringa in the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to Darfeld FSV getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Timo Umlauf hit a great ball. Steffen Feuerstein who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Julien-Nils Fleischer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Helmut Heeringa took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Julien-Nils Fleischer to make any attempt to save it. SV Darmstadt 98's Artur Kopplin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erik Wolters in the 74th minute of play. A collision led to Darfeld FSV getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Lukas Schiffer hit a great ball. Julien-Nils Fleischer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Helmut Heeringa, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute Helmut Heeringa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julien-Nils Fleischer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 83 played minutes SV Darmstadt 98 got a freekick which was hit by Özcan Wenck. Artur Kopplin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Wolters in the 91st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helmut Heeringa in the 92nd minute of play forced Darfeld FSV's goalkeeper Julien-Nils Fleischer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Darfeld FSV's zone, Steffen Feuerstein stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julien-Nils Fleischer came out of the goal and Steffen Feuerstein tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SV Darmstadt 98's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
