The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Döbelner SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Jannikoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Markus Möller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hubert Päßler having to interfere. Jerome Memmel hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Hubert Päßler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marc Kranz, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. With a little luck, Borussia Dortmund's Hubert Päßler got control of the ball when Johannes Kick tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Johannes Kick notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Borussia Dortmund's Hubert Päßler. Hubert Päßler was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 45th play minutes Johannes Kick shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Hubert Päßler and just under the crossbar into goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marc Kranz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Dortmund's zone, Marc Kranz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hubert Päßler came out of the goal and Marc Kranz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hubert Päßler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johannes Kick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marc Kranz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But to his dismay, Marc Kranz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. In the 91st match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Reinauer to maneuver through the defense. Johannes Kick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Hubert Päßler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
