The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Greg Schmidlin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Trüssel in the 15th minute of play. Fernand Boeck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Greg Schmidlin having to interfere. After 18 minutes, Guillaume Ritieni mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AS Breganzona and the Grenn FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to AS Breganzona getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Guillaume Ritieni hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in AS Breganzona's zone, Fernand Boeck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Greg Schmidlin came out of the goal and Fernand Boeck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicolas Trüssel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Greg Schmidlin having to interfere. Greg Schmidlin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernand Boeck in the 33rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Irvin Schär during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in AS Breganzona fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 77th match minute, Grenn FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidor Braun to maneuver through the defense. Orlando Eigner hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After having played for 83 minutes, Herald Cavegn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AS Breganzona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Herald Cavegn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rory Brandini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rory Brandini in the 91st minute of play forced Grenn FC's goalkeeper Conrad Kaestner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grenn FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
