Josef Tétrault kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. If Neron Süber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Steffisburg's zone, Rodolphe Donsante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tam Küng came out of the goal and Rodolphe Donsante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dylan Zuber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tam Küng having to interfere. Luca Wurfel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jordan Bernuzzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. If Neron Süber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
55 minutes into the game, one of Grasshopper Club Zürich:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Jordan Bernuzzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Dylan Zuber came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Grasshopper Club Zürich fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dylan Zuber couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neron Süber in the 69th minute of play forced Grasshopper Club Zürich's goalkeeper Luca Wurfel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
