Raf Van den Berge's late challenge caught a KV Vaarendries's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raf Van den Berge helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SV Athos's Raf Van den Berge got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After 4 minutes, Bruno Dekkers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KV Vaarendries and the SV Athos players grew even worse after the yellow card. 6 minutes into the game, Brain Scheppers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KV Vaarendries's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SV Athos the free kick. The supporters of SV Athos booed when KV Vaarendries was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brain Scheppers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dennis Dewulf could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Jules Bautmans made a huge save. Vince Moerman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Vince Moerman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lander Dobbeleir in the 15th minute of play forced KV Vaarendries's goalkeeper Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Vince Moerman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Joel De Spiegeleire hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute, Brain Scheppers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lander Dobbeleir in the 47th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joerie Neesens to make the kick off. If Dennis Dewulf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 61 minutes, Wesly Ruelens mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SV Athos and the KV Vaarendries players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Wesly Ruelens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Conrad Henskens was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Dennis Dewulf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jules Bautmans having to interfere. After a rather tough play, KV Vaarendries's Bruno Dekkers got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ray Enfant. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind KV Vaarendries's goalkeeper Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SV Athos's Jeffrey Impens suffered a concussion in the 76th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Lander Dobbeleir came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the SV Athos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lander Dobbeleir couldn't finish the play. Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Lander Dobbeleir sent off a good shot on target. During the 82nd minute of the match Bruno Dekkers completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bruno Dekkers a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 82nd match minute, KV Vaarendries was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Dekkers to maneuver through the defense. Alfons Van Cleijnenbreugel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lander Dobbeleir in the 85th minute. Lander Dobbeleir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute.
