KVSK Mariakerke's Louis-Philippe Schellekens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre-Olivier Stevens in the 39th minute of play. fenerbahce were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after KVSK Mariakerke's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ruisko Cavazos took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Ruisko Cavazos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Louis-Philippe Schellekens quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mattias Van de Weijer might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robbrecht Dekker. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mattias Van de Weijer ran back to his position shaking his head. 46 minutes into the game, fenerbahce's Pierre-Olivier Stevens nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Louis-Philippe Schellekens made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Philippe-Arnaud Biesen was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, fenerbahce's Pino Rousseau ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Louis-Philippe Schellekens. In the 62nd minute, Philippe-Arnaud Biesen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KVSK Mariakerke fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5.
