The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Steffe Andriesens managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U18 Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steffe Andriesens was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 10th minute Arnauld Maerschalcx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernard Klijnhens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jose Eekhout sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacob Sterkx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefaan Bouwmans in the 14th minute of play. Steffe Andriesens struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Jacob Sterkx didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U18 Academy. Armoede's Jacob Sterkx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stefaan Bouwmans in the 17th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Octave Hofnagels during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Octave Hofnagels kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. If Stefaan Bouwmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Sterkx was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Stefaan Bouwmans showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 22 minute of play. Steffe Andriesens in the 27thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. The wind increased when Arnauld Maerschalcx made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Arnauld Maerschalcx dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bernard Klijnhens, 1-2. Jose Eekhouts short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Bernard Klijnhens to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in U18 Academy's zone, Octave Hofnagels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernard Klijnhens came out of the goal and Octave Hofnagels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jose Eekhout had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Armoede's zone, Steffe Andriesens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Sterkx came out of the goal and Steffe Andriesens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Armoede booed when U18 Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glen Verhagen didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jose Eekhout had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glen Verhagen charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glen Verhagen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Glen Verhagen kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Armoede walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
