The supporters of Hekelgem booed when KFC Poelberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Regis De Vriendt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mike Hoeybroeck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wart Weynants in the 8th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes KFC Poelberg got a freekick which was hit by Jorre Bauwmans. Mike Hoeybroeck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wart Weynants, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mike Hoeybroeck stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wart Weynants's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Hekelgem's Wart Weynants got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience cheered when Jelle Coppens's long shot passed Sander Van Eijken's right side. It was 1-0, 20 minutes into the match. Constant De Pauw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Sander Van Eijken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute Renaut De Coninck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Hoeybroeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hekelgem's zone, Constant De Pauw stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sander Van Eijken came out of the goal and Constant De Pauw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Constant De Pauw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Sander Van Eijken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wart Weynants sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wart Weynants stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Hekelgem's Mike Hoeybroeck threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wart Weynants, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wart Weynants might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mike Hoeybroeck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wart Weynants ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 63rd minute, Wart Weynants got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Greg Van Clynenbreugel kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, KFC Poelberg's goal looked a bit too open when Wart Weynants came free, but Mike Hoeybroeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Constant De Pauw in the 81st minute of play forced Hekelgem's goalkeeper Sander Van Eijken to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Renaut De Coninck fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hekelgem's protests and gave Renaut De Coninck a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th match minute, Hekelgem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renaut De Coninck to maneuver through the defense. If Wes Struijf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sander Van Eijken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wes Struijf, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. After a defensive mix-up in KFC Poelberg's zone, Wart Weynants stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mike Hoeybroeck came out of the goal and Wart Weynants tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
