The audience was convinced that Alphonse Van Aerschodt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michiel Van den Broeck was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. In the 19th minute Alphonse Van Aerschodt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michiel Van den Broeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brend Smets might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Michiel Van den Broeck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brend Smets ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Brend Smets sped through Bleach's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michiel Van den Broeck. 37 minutes into the game, Yvan Toeback was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vanrunkelen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bleach the free kick. After 37 played minutes Vanrunkelen got a freekick which was hit by Yvan Toeback. In the 40th minute, Hugo Wuttemans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michiel Van den Broeck was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Brend Smets received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Michiel Van den Broeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alphonse Van Aerschodt to strike the kick off in the second half. Brend Smets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michiel Van den Broeck having to interfere. Cederik Van Leemput fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manu Nelleboedske having to interfere. After some careless play in the Vanrunkelen defense, Cederik Van Leemput kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manu Nelleboedske. The Vanrunkelen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manu Nelleboedske should have stopped the shot. In the 73rd minute, Brend Smets fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 76th minute, Bleach's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Brend Smets fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Bleach's Michiel Van den Broeck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alphonse Van Aerschodt in the 76th minute of play. After 80 played minutes Alphonse Van Aerschodt rounded Bleach's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. 83 minutes into the match, Bleach's goalkeeper Michiel Van den Broeck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brend Smets. Michiel Van den Broeck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alphonse Van Aerschodt in the 92nd minute of play. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vanrunkelen would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
