The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpected shot in the 4th minute by Gwen Roels got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Houthulst's zone, Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guilian de Pelsmacker came out of the goal and Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Houthulst's goalkeeper Guilian de Pelsmacker, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 26 minutes, Nickolas Van der Poorten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Hives's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nickolas Van der Poorten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 27 played minutes Houthulst got a freekick which was hit by Youri Debruyn. In the 28th minute of the match Pieterjan Geerts shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Guilian de Pelsmacker showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Houthulst's goalkeeper Guilian de Pelsmacker had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gwen Roels. Guilian de Pelsmacker made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Gwen Roels sent off a good shot on target. 36 minutes into the match, Andries Winnepennincks notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of FC Hives's Hector Callewaert. Hector Callewaert was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guilian de Pelsmacker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nickolas Van der Poorten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guilian de Pelsmacker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot in the 46th minute of the match. The FC Hives players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Houthulst were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Charles-Antoine Van Aarschot made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Houthulst's zone, Gwen Roels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guilian de Pelsmacker came out of the goal and Gwen Roels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Luk Van de Wal fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Houthulst's protests and gave Luk Van de Wal a yellow card for diving instead. Luk Van de Wal kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Pieterjan Geerts took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Guilian de Pelsmacker. Houthulst's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Youri Debruyn fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Houthulst's protests and gave Youri Debruyn a yellow card for diving instead. Youri Debruyn hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After 74 minutes Houthulst's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pieterjan Geerts who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on FC Hives's corner Gillis de Koninck fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Guilian de Pelsmacker quite easily take care of the ball. Andries Winnepennincks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Hector Callewaert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Hives's Hector Callewaert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andries Winnepennincks in the 81st minute of play. Charles-Louis Baumans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guilian de Pelsmacker having to interfere. Gwen Roels struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Guilian de Pelsmacker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Hives. There was no doubt that FC Hives were the better team. FC Hives's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
