Dominic den Ronden hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Rudi Reyniers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Henk Claevers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Brecht Imberechts in the 27th minute really tested Henk Claevers's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 28 minutes, Xander-Paul De Meulder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gierle and the Scherpenheuvel-Zichem players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Gierle getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Xander-Paul De Meulder hit a great ball. Rudi Reyniers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rudi Reyniers's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Henk Claevers skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gierle's Robbin Koten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christofere Petermans in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's goalkeeper Henk Claevers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mario Laremans was the one to do the kick off. When Dominic den Ronden fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gierle's protests and gave Dominic den Ronden a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute, Dominic den Ronden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute Herbert Storms shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robbin Koten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute, Rudi Reyniers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gierle fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's Henk Claevers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Laremans in the 64th minute of play. When Mario Laremans came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Gierle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mario Laremans couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Mario Laremans put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Henk Claevers. If Christofere Petermans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henk Claevers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudi Reyniers in the 81st minute of the match. Mario Laremans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henk Claevers having to interfere. In the 93rdth minute of the game Mario Laremans who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's Henk Claevers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. There was no doubt that Gierle were the better team. Gierle's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
