The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christoffel Verdonk during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's Christoffel Verdonk got a free kick in the 3rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norbert Wijnants in the 4th minute of play forced Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's goalkeeper Henk Claevers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When KEG Gistel's Norbert Wijnants in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's Christoffel Verdonk got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute, Norbert Wijnants got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Adam de Pelsmaecker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henk Claevers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norbert Wijnants in the 13th minute of play. 0-1 became the score in the 16th minute when Dyllen Gobelijns elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Norbert Wijnants made a precise shot to the right of Henk Claevers. Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Jarno Camps hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Henk Claevers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam de Pelsmaecker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herbert Storms's late challenge caught a KEG Gistel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Herbert Storms helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes Scherpenheuvel-Zichem got a freekick which was hit by Herbert Storms. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marco Waterloos was slow to take the kick. During this time KEG Gistel's players had a chance to rest. Henk Claevers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norbert Wijnants in the 34th minute of the match. Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's Henk Claevers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norbert Wijnants in the 41st minute of play. Norbert Wijnants received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Henk Claevers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Christofere Petermans to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's zone, Norbert Wijnants stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henk Claevers came out of the goal and Norbert Wijnants tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Norbert Wijnants came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the KEG Gistel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Norbert Wijnants couldn't finish the play. Jarno Camps hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Remie De Pauw charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remie De Pauw the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 61st minute, Remie De Pauw hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henk Claevers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norbert Wijnants, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remie De Pauw kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After 75 played minutes KEG Gistel got a freekick which was hit by Marco Waterloos. Adam de Pelsmaecker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Henk Claevers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Norbert Wijnants's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henk Claevers was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem's zone, Adam de Pelsmaecker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henk Claevers came out of the goal and Adam de Pelsmaecker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Henk Claevers was a little too slow when Norbert Wijnants got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 0-4. Adam de Pelsmaecker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henk Claevers having to interfere. Norbert Wijnants sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
