Eric Van Buyten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Claes in the 6th minute of play. After 8 played minutes BluB FC got a freekick which was hit by Harald Geldhof. Gert-Jan De Clercq, 8 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Lennart Kesters hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in BluB FC's zone, Sebastian Claes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Van Buyten came out of the goal and Sebastian Claes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Octave Steenbecks charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Octave Steenbecks the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Van Lent! In the 26th minute there was a penalty for BluB FC. Lennart Kesters stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Antoine Klijnhens. 1-0. The audience was convinced that Karl Cheepers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eric Van Buyten was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Van Lent's Sebastian Claes got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Karl Cheepers ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Van Buyten was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 37 minutes into the game, Van Lent's Sebastian Claes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eric Van Buyten made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Eric Van Buyten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Claes in the 40th minute of the match. Kristen Jaspers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antoine Klijnhens having to interfere. Kristen Jaspers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Richy Roels was the one to do the kick off. 1-3 became the score in the 58th minute when Karl Cheepers elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Dieter Alaerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Cheepers in the 66th minute of play forced BluB FC's goalkeeper Eric Van Buyten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karl Cheepers took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eric Van Buyten. Eric Van Buyten dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Harald Geldhof fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antoine Klijnhens having to interfere. If Karl Cheepers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastian Claes in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eric Van Buyten, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 81 played minutes BluB FC got a freekick which was hit by Dieter Alaerts. The supporters of Van Lent booed when BluB FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harald Geldhof didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Van Lent's Eric Van Buyten threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Karl Cheepers, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 93 minutes into the match, Kristen Jaspers notched a goal, 2-5, to the right of Van Lent's Antoine Klijnhens. Antoine Klijnhens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle sounded Van Lent left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than BluB FC.
