After a defensive mix-up in SK Mater 's zone, Toon Antheunis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robby Sielens came out of the goal and Toon Antheunis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, SK Mater 's Izak Van Halssbeeck got a free kick in the 11th minute. SK Mater 's Dieter Pastijns got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Bernd Van Linthoudt got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 25 minutes into the match, SK Mater 's goal looked a bit too open when Toon Antheunis came free, but Robby Sielens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of KV Haren booed when SK Mater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guy Van Den Driessche didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute, Lorenz Weijnandts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Bernd Van Linthoudt came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the KV Haren fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernd Van Linthoudt couldn't finish the play. Corneel Verhengen charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Corneel Verhengen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 46th minute, Corneel Verhengen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernd Van Linthoudt made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, SK Mater 's goal looked a bit too open when Toon Antheunis came free, but Robby Sielens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bernd Van Linthoudt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Bernd Van Linthoudt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Sielens having to interfere. Rafael Kerselaers struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Jannic Louis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SK Mater . Dieter Pastijns could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Jannic Louis made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Kerselaers in the 63rd minute of play forced KV Haren's goalkeeper Jannic Louis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 64 played minutes KV Haren got a freekick which was hit by Lorenz Weijnandts. SK Mater were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after KV Haren's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Benjamin Beaufort took the corner. Robby Sielens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernd Van Linthoudt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robby Sielens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernd Van Linthoudt in the 74th minute of play. In the 74th match minute, SK Mater was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guy Van Den Driessche to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernd Van Linthoudt in the 81st minute of play forced SK Mater 's goalkeeper Robby Sielens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
