After 7 played minutes Tongerlo got a freekick which was hit by Tibo Tilens. KVSK Sautin's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joost De Smet in the 9th minute. The corner ended in Luuk Ombelets almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tongerlo's Fransesco Wortelaert did a great save. In the 13th match minute, Tongerlo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niki Van den Panhuyzen to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mattias Taverniers got free with Fransesco Wortelaert in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Remco Coekx during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Tongerlo booed when KVSK Sautin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remco Coekx didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilliam Ballette missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 25 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Goffrey Van Der Meeren right hand side. Frederick Claeys's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fransesco Wortelaert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Fransesco Wortelaert made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Mattias Taverniers sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Tongerlo's zone, Mattias Taverniers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fransesco Wortelaert came out of the goal and Mattias Taverniers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Roni Vandeput had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Senne Raes hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Roni Vandeput's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Goffrey Van Der Meeren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. A collision led to Tongerlo getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Niki Van den Panhuyzen hit a great ball. Joost De Smet's shot from long distance in the 43rd minute was not bad at all, but Tongerlo's Fransesco Wortelaert knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. In the 44th minute of the match, Frederick Claeys tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Fransesco Wortelaert saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 46 minutes, Frederick Claeys managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KVSK Sautin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frederick Claeys was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frederick Claeys was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roni Vandeput got free with Goffrey Van Der Meeren in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59th match minute, Tongerlo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrik Timmermans to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, KVSK Sautin's Joost De Smet tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After having played for 64 minutes, Frederick Claeys managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KVSK Sautin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frederick Claeys was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Mattias Taverniers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fransesco Wortelaert stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frederick Claeys's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Mattias Taverniers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fransesco Wortelaert having to interfere. KVSK Sautin's Mattias Taverniers got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of KVSK Sautin booed when Tongerlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilliam Ballette didn't get a good kick on the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Frederick Claeys notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Tongerlo's Fransesco Wortelaert. Fransesco Wortelaert was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in KVSK Sautin's zone, Roni Vandeput stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Goffrey Van Der Meeren came out of the goal and Roni Vandeput tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mattias Taverniers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Fransesco Wortelaert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Frederick Claeys came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the KVSK Sautin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frederick Claeys couldn't finish the play.
