Olli Schloss tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alex Trares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olli Schloss having to interfere. If Jan Frentzen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Alsergrund IF's Arne Rausch got a free kick in the 7th minute. Olli Schloss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Frentzen, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Olli Schloss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Trares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robin-Pascal Kastner hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Mirko Zingler was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 16th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. A collision led to Irrendt FSV getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Jens Knüwe hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the match, Alsergrund IF's goalkeeper Marco Gottschalk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arnold Wickendick. After 26 played minutes Alsergrund IF got a freekick which was hit by Markus Höllerer. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Frentzen in the 29th minute of play forced Irrendt FSV's goalkeeper Olli Schloss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 34th minute of the game. One of Alsergrund IF:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Irrendt FSV:s goal. After a rather tough play, Irrendt FSV's Jens Knüwe got a free kick in the 44th minute. Arnold Wickendick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Marco Gottschalk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ralf Wedemeyer was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Arnold Wickendick left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Irrendt FSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After having played for 59 minutes, Alex Trares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alsergrund IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Trares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jan Frentzen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Olli Schloss when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 62 minutes into the match, Irrendt FSV's goalkeeper Olli Schloss had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alex Trares. Ralf Wedemeyer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Gottschalk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. When Jan Frentzen came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Alsergrund IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan Frentzen couldn't finish the play. Arnold Wickendick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alex Trares got free with Olli Schloss in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Irrendt FSV's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Alex Trares scored to the left of an out of position Olli Schloss, making the score, 2-2. When Alsergrund IF's Jan Frentzen in 91 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Olli Schloss guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Alsergrund IF were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
