A very good chance. Tom Burgstaller scored 1-1 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Timo Ramelow, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Sascha Odenthal put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Niclas Mierzwa. In the 16th minute Andre Jennen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timo Ramelow saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Philipp Bayer fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Middlesbrough's protests and gave Philipp Bayer a yellow card for diving instead. Philipp Bayer hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. When Unterkriech's René Evertz in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Niclas Mierzwa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from René Evertz in the 47th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tom Burgstaller was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 55 minutes, Tom Burgstaller managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Middlesbrough's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Burgstaller was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. René Evertz might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Niclas Mierzwa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After a defensive mix-up in Unterkriech's zone, Tom Burgstaller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Timo Ramelow came out of the goal and Tom Burgstaller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Unterkriech's Ralf Bieniok got a free kick in the 71st minute. Andre Jennen might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Timo Ramelow. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andre Jennen ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, René Evertz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Unterkriech's supporters rose to their feet, but René Evertz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niclas Mierzwa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Peter Volz made a great header on Unterkriech's corner, it was just that Middlesbrough's Niclas Mierzwa managed to reach the ball for a save. 90 minutes into the match, Middlesbrough's goal looked a bit too open when Sascha Odenthal came free, but Niclas Mierzwa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Unterkriech's goalkeeper Timo Ramelow, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Andre Jennen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Timo Ramelow having to make a save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Middlesbrough players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Unterkriech.
