Petschnitzen FSV's Tim Kehl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Terwester in the 5th minute of play. Robin Mauer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan-Peter Baston showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marlon Ballack, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Petschnitzen FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Mauer came free, but Tim Kehl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jan-Peter Baston took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marlon Ballack, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Petschnitzen FSV's zone, Albert Herzog stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tim Kehl came out of the goal and Albert Herzog tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Yannick Knabel hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Albert Herzog sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marlon Ballack received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Jan-Peter Baston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Herzog could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Tim Kehl made a huge save. Olaf Marchl hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After 41 played minutes Petschnitzen FSV got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Gehnen. Tim Kehl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robin Mauer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Albert Herzog had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Petschnitzen FSV were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Robin Mauer was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Herzog in the 55th minute of play forced Petschnitzen FSV's goalkeeper Tim Kehl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute Robin Mauer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Kehl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomas Jacksch charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thomas Jacksch the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 66 played minutes Petschnitzen FSV got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Jacksch. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Petschnitzen FSV's goalkeeper Tim Kehl, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Turnitz FC's Niclas Kastener got a free kick in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Marlon Ballack managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petschnitzen FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Marlon Ballack was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan-Peter Baston breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 73 in the game by Boris Breckheimer from a close distance when the talented Jan-Peter Baston managed to make a qualified save. Turnitz FC's players were relieved. Marlon Ballack charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
