The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sefa Kerimhan was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 6 minutes into the match. After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gelendost SK! Gökay Energin struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Galip Oktay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gelendost SK. Through an outstanding action, after 25 minutes, Galip Oktay successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hasret Özercan struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Galip Oktay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gelendost SK. Mustafa Kemal Omural fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Oktay having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Galata's zone, Gökay Energin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Galip Oktay came out of the goal and Gökay Energin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fazıl Hüsnü Ünsan in the 43rd minute of play forced Gelendost SK's goalkeeper Şükrü Eryiğit to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute, Okanay Ongel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Okanay Ongel fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gelendost SK's protests and gave Okanay Ongel a yellow card for diving instead. Okanay Ongel hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fazıl Hüsnü Ünsan to strike the kick off in the second half. Şükrü Eryiğit made an important save on a dangerous shot by Haluk Özkent in the 52nd minute. With a little luck, Gelendost SK's Şükrü Eryiğit got control of the ball when Haluk Özkent tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 54 played minutes Gelendost SK got a freekick which was hit by Gökay Energin. Haluk Özkent blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Şükrü Eryiğit having to make a save. 63 minutes into the game, Mustafa Kemal Omural cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Galip Oktay was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mustafa Kemal Omural fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Oktay having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Kemal Omural in the 78th minute of play forced Galata's goalkeeper Galip Oktay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Mustafa Kemal Omural had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Kemal Omural in the 91st minute of play forced Galata's goalkeeper Galip Oktay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gökay Energin kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Şükrü Eryiğit made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Haluk Özkent sent off a good shot on target.
