The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Mazhar Karaalp recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Resul Bilgiç. Mazhar Karaalp showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vahap Balcıoğlu got free with Resul Bilgiç in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Resul Bilgiç made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vahap Balcıoğlu in the 11th minute. After a rather tough play, İzmir Cyclone's Mesut Remiz got a free kick in the 12th minute. If Engin Eren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Engin Eren in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg İzzet Rafih saved anadolu yıldızları fk from getting behind. Engin Eren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. İzmir Cyclone's Resul Bilgiç proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save İzmir Cyclone from getting a goal against them. Vahap Balcıoğlus short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Resul Bilgiç to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of anadolu yıldızları fk booed when İzmir Cyclone was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arif Gaffar Tefhim didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Engin Eren in the 36th managed to get into a good position. Şenel Altuner struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. İzzet Rafih didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for İzmir Cyclone. Engin Eren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İzzet Rafih having to interfere. 68 minutes into the game, Vahap Balcıoğlu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. anadolu yıldızları fk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave İzmir Cyclone the free kick. After 68 played minutes anadolu yıldızları fk got a freekick which was hit by Vahap Balcıoğlu. 69 minutes into the match, Şenel Altuner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of İzzet Rafih. anadolu yıldızları fk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Şenel Altuner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Vahap Balcıoğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
