The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Güven Yaşar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tanju Şenbay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saip İsmihan in the 6th minute of play. Mecitözü's Tanju Şenbay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haşim Suerkan in the 9th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samir Eryaman during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Kekova booed when Mecitözü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samir Eryaman didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Şamil İnanöz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Kekova getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Özgür Tanyeri hit a great ball. If Ayvaz Orus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Mecitözü's Şamil İnanöz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vural Tavil narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ayvaz Orus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Vural Tavil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Vural Tavil managed to avoid a goal in the 41stth minute, when Mecitözü's Ayvaz Orus fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 45 minutes, Şamil İnanöz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mecitözü's supporters crossed their fingers, but Şamil İnanöz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Saip İsmihan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Şamil İnanöz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kekova's Anıl Ozan Durak shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 64th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Tanju Şenbay but with some difficulty. Vural Tavil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ayvaz Orus in the 66th minute of the match. Şamil İnanöz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arslan Hacıfettahoğlu during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tanju Şenbay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Saip İsmihan in the 79th minute. In the 80th minute Şamil İnanöz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vural Tavil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mecitözü's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Saip İsmihan 91 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saip İsmihan in the 96th minute of play forced Mecitözü's goalkeeper Tanju Şenbay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
