The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Cinar SK booed when Merinos SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Battal Gazi Hazret didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Merinos SK's zone, Nazmi Arıtan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Çakabey Şanalp came out of the goal and Nazmi Arıtan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Battal Gazi Hazret's late challenge caught a Cinar SK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Battal Gazi Hazret helped the player get up and apologised. Çakabey Şanalp was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Vacid Acunman. Çakabey Şanalp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nazmi Arıtan in the 8th minute of the match. Ahmet Tolga Yiğitkan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doğa Talay having to interfere. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
