Petr Ivchenko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filimon Ivanov in the 9th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Filimon Ivanov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Petr Ivchenko was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Ivanovo FC's Petr Zvarykin got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, Orsk's Igor Brod sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Petr Ivchenko narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 28 minutes, Filimon Ivanov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Orsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filimon Ivanov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Petr Ivchenko made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Igor Brod sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sergey Belov during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Igor Brod had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the game, one of Ivanovo FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 45th minute, Igor Brod got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Filimon Ivanov was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Viktor Panov got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 56thth minute of the game Petr Zvarykin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Orsk's Mikhail Vnukov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Igor Brod had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Igor Brod received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Petr Ivchenko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Igor Brod sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute Petr Zvarykin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mikhail Vnukov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Petr Zvarykin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikhail Vnukov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Viktor Panov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ivanovo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Viktor Panov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mikhail Vnukov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Igor Brod had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Petr Zvarykin took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Mikhail Vnukov to make any attempt to save it. Filimon Ivanov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Petr Ivchenko having to make a save. If Petr Zvarykin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
