Silviu Donecea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Petre Burca's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Gigi Bărbătescu kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Silviu Donecea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidiu Șeicaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. When Horea Podgoreanu fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rapid's protests and gave Horea Podgoreanu a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rapid's zone, Petre Burca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silviu Donecea came out of the goal and Petre Burca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flavius Dăscălescu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Valeriu Bistreanu struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Mihnea Coșmeanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid. Gigi Bărbătescu was shown his second yellow card after 92 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Rapid getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Gigi Bărbătescu hit a great ball. In the 94th minute, Valeriu Bistreanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
