When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Teodor Cârlan sped through Ciuntesti's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Irinel Bărbuceanu. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Horea Gafița put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Irinel Bărbuceanu. Avram Vulpăşin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sabin Andronache. Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sabin Andronache showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iordache Şoimu in the 25th minute of the match. Horea Gafița in the 26thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Irinel Bărbuceanu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sabin Feraru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute, Remus Grigoriu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 31st match minute, Ciuntesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gigel Ciolac to maneuver through the defense. After 32 minutes, Octav Nicoliță mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ciuntesti and the Steaua Bucuresti players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th match minute, Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcu Răduț to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when Sabin Feraru made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Ciuntesti's zone, Sabin Feraru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Irinel Bărbuceanu came out of the goal and Sabin Feraru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 53 minutes into the match, Remus Grigoriu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sabin Andronache, 4-1. 57 minutes into the match, Ciuntesti's goal looked a bit too open when Teodor Cârlan came free, but Irinel Bărbuceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ciuntesti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-1. 88 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's Sabin Feraru sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Irinel Bărbuceanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
