After 37 minutes, Gică Morozan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Laceanca and the Steaua Bucuresti players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee ignored Steaua Bucuresti's protests and gave Ştefan Comarnescu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Steaua Bucuresti getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. When the referee ended the match the Steaua Bucuresti players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
