Iacob Iosifian hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Petruț Feteanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toader Pânzariu having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Aurel Deleanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Frunzisul CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Aurel Deleanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Toader Pânzariu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 31 played minutes Politehnica Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Iacob Iosifian. The audience thought a goal was coming when Petruț Feteanu got free with Toader Pânzariu in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute, Aurel Deleanu fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When Andrei Tutunaru fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Frunzisul CS's protests and gave Andrei Tutunaru a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Politehnica Timisoara booed when Frunzisul CS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrei Tutunaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Constantin Cantemir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aurel Deleanu made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Politehnica Timisoara's Octavian Dumitrana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ionuț Bogătan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee showed Iacob Iosifian the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 73 played minutes Politehnica Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Iacob Iosifian. If Aurel Deleanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Politehnica Timisoara's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Frunzisul CS the free kick.
