Vasile Gherase showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionuț Petru in the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's goalkeeper Vasile Gherase, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Narcis Ghiondea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chiuvegea's supporters rose to their feet, but Narcis Ghiondea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vasile Gherase breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's Robert Cocârlă got a free kick in the 21st minute. When Chiuvegea's Ionuț Petru in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's goalie prevented a goal. In the 27th minute of the match Octav Rușanu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vasile Gherase skillfully saved the ball. After 31 played minutes, Chiuvegea's Narcis Ghiondea shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vasile Gherase came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chiuvegea reached it. After 33 played minutes Costică Buzatu rounded Chiuvegea's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. The audience was convinced that Ionuț Petru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasile Gherase was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Vasile Gherase stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Narcis Ghiondea's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. If Cristi Stolniceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Chiuvegea fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Chiuvegea's Ionuț Petru looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Costică Buzatu to strike the kick off in the second half. Chiuvegea's attentive Avram Daria managed to snatch the ball when Constantin Vasilică made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. Anton Isăceanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costică Buzatu in the 61st minute of play. If Costică Buzatu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 69 minutes, Ionuț Petru made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's Vasile Gherase tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Vasile Gherase was a little too slow when Cristi Stolniceanu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 1-4. Constantin Vasilică made in the 77th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chiuvegea's Octav Rușanu. Cristi Stolniceanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to FC Scorpionii Ploiesti getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Alex Popeangă hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, Ionuț Petru dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vasile Gherase, 1-5. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Paul Gurzău managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's supporters rose to their feet, but Paul Gurzău was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anton Isăceanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Ionuț Petru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ionuț Petru did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-6 to the left of a surprised Vasile Gherase 90 minutes into the match. After having played for 95 minutes, Cristi Stolniceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiuvegea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristi Stolniceanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ionuț Petru in the 96th minute of play forced FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's goalkeeper Vasile Gherase to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
