Paul Gurzău's late challenge caught a Ireasca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A very good chance. 23 minutes into the match, FC Scorpionii Ploiesti's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Jugănaru came free, but Vasile Gherase reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iosif Durbacă to make the kick off. Iordache Basarabescu hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. If Costică Buzatu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iosif Durbacă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasile Gherase having to interfere. 65 minutes in the game, Iosif Durbacă fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Vasile Gherase having to interfere. Iosif Durbacă was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 77th minute. In the 89th minute Paul Gurzău shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionuț Crivoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Jugănaru got free with Vasile Gherase in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
