The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Calistrat Popilean could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Cristian Mandoiu made a huge save. Mădălin Stoica might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristian Mandoiu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mădălin Stoica ran back to his position shaking his head. Mădălin Stoica blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristian Mandoiu having to make a save. Thanks to some nice moves Mădălin Stoica could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Cristian Mandoiu however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of FC Viitorul Rapid booed when Talapani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudiu Văcăroiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Calistrat Popilean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Claudio Arlo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Mandoiu having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calistrat Popilean in the 35th minute of play forced Talapani's goalkeeper Cristian Mandoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Talapani's goal looked a bit too open when Calistrat Popilean came free, but Cristian Mandoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Mădălin Stoica put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Cristian Mandoiu.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mădălin Stoica to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduard Frențiu in the 56th minute of play forced FC Viitorul Rapid's goalkeeper Filip Rebengiuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudio Arlo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristian Mandoiu having to make a save. Mădălin Stoica's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristian Mandoiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. After having played for 65 minutes, Nistor Ruşdea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Viitorul Rapid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nistor Ruşdea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicolae Ilica charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nicolae Ilica the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 67th minute, Nicolae Ilica hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nistor Ruşdea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Cristian Mandoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Filip Rebengiuc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aurelian Lalescu in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute, Nistor Ruşdea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Calistrat Popilean struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Cristian Mandoiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Viitorul Rapid. Talapani's Cristian Mandoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mădălin Stoica in the 79th minute of play. When FC Viitorul Rapid's Mădălin Stoica in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Talapani's goalie prevented a goal. Cristian Mandoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Calistrat Popilean in the 86th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the game, Calistrat Popilean cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Cristian Mandoiu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 97 minutes into the game, Denis Benga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Viitorul Rapid's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Talapani the free kick. Denis Benga kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Viitorul Rapid had played much better football throughout.
