With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nebi Ziver prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 13th minute, Șerban Bodiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisc Oproiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18thth minute of the game Francisc Oproiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sochi's Nebi Ziver was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Francisc Oproiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 23 minutes, Emanuel Ioniță managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Ioniță was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sochi's Nebi Ziver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisc Oproiu in the 24th minute of play. Teodor Hăulică's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Virgil Mustățea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Teodor Hăulică received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Virgil Mustățea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Toader Neaga charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toader Neaga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Toader Neaga hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Itau's Virgil Mustățea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Itau from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Toader Beligan to make the kick off. Nebi Ziver made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Emanuel Ioniță sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Francisc Oproiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itau's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisc Oproiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nebi Ziver breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teodor Hăulică fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Mustățea having to interfere. Toader Neaga kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Nebi Ziver took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisc Oproiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of Sochi:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Itau:s goal. Virgil Mironov walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Francisc Oproiu came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Itau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisc Oproiu couldn't finish the play. In the 81st minute, Francisc Oproiu fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Emanuel Ioniță had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute, Francisc Oproiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Ioniță got free with Nebi Ziver in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Itau getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Mihai Bostan hit a great ball. After having played for 99 minutes, Teodor Hăulică managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sochi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teodor Hăulică was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Itau players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
